King County Executive Dow Constantine today joined with an international aerospace manufacturer to announce the firm’s plans to expand its manufacturing capacity in South King County.

“Growth in our aerospace supply chain creates jobs and prosperity, and I welcome CARBURES to King County as a new link in that chain,” Constantine said from the Spain Stand at the Paris Air Show.

“King County is an important location for CARBURES because we are already present in the supplier network for Boeing,” said Ivan Contreras, CEO of CARBURES USA. “We look forward to growing in South King County and creating more jobs.”

CARBURES is an engineering and manufacturing carbon fiber composite structures, with headquarters in the U.S., Europe and China.

Keth Houseal, CARBURES USA General Manager, said CARBURES plans to expand its manufacturing at a location to be determined in South King County by early next year. He said the new facility would be roughly 60,000 square feet, in order to provide HLU (Hand Lay Up) and RMCP (Rapid Multi-injection Compression Process) capabilities, adding more than 100 jobs by next year.

CARBURES designs and develops products, materials and composites to meet the demands of industry through a proprietary process technology utilizing carbon fiber to create structures that are lighter, stronger and more durable.
