A man was fatally shot near the Auburn Golf Course on the morning of Thursday, July 7, according to the Auburn Police Department.

Just before 10 a.m., Auburn police officers were dispatched to a call of shots fired near the Auburn Golf Course. When they arrived, the officers found a man estimated to be in his 30s who had suffered a gunshot wound on the northbound lane of Green River Road.

The Auburn Police Department said life-saving measures were taken, but the man was ultimately pronounced dead on the scene. As of this posting, the Auburn police do not have a suspect description.
