Scottye Miller, 31, was sentenced Friday afternoon to an exceptional sentence of 50 years in prison for the fatal stabbing of his ex-girlfriend in her Auburn apartment in 2012.

A jury last month found Miller guilty of first-degree murder with a deadly weapon enhancement for the murder of Tricia Patricelli, 33.

Miller stabbed Patricelli at least 30 times in the brutal attack.

The jury’s verdict included two aggravating factors: that there was a domestic violence pattern of abuse of multiple victims; and that Miller reoffended after recently being released from incarceration for a prior domestic violence offense against Ms. Patricelli.

Although the standard range was 30 to 39 1/2 years, prosecutors recommended an exceptional sentence of 50 years, citing Miller’s history of domestic violence against multiple victims and because he had reoffended after a recent release from prison.

Friday’s sentencing was before Judge Barbara Linde at the King County Courthouse. Senior Deputy Prosecuting Attorneys Andrienne McCoy and Tuyen Lam handled the case.
