Man’s foot gets crushed between forklift and rack storage | Fire blotter

Between June 14 and June 20, the Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to 256 calls for service, among them the following.

June 14

Accident: 6:58 a.m. (Auburn). Firefighters hurrying to a rollover on South 277th Street at Auburn Way North found five vehicles involved, and one of them on its roof. Firefighters assessed multiple persons before a private ambulance hurried one to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center (MAMC).

Garage fire: 1:21 p.m. (Algona). Responding to a report of a shed on fire, firefighters found a detached, two-car garage thickly charged with smoke. Once they got in, they put out the fire, conducted overhaul tasks and helped with the investigation.

June 15

Aid call: 1:14 p.m. (Pacific). Firefighters helped a man who was complaining of a foot injury he had sustained at a warehouse when his foot got crushed between a forklift and rack storage. Once firefighters bandaged and splinted the foot, a private ambulance transported the man to Valley Medical Center.

June 16

Aid call: 6:43 p.m. (Auburn). Firefighters and King County Medic One evaluated a young girl who was struggling to breathe, and TriMed transported her to MAMC.

June 17

Aid call: 6:28 p.m. (Auburn). Firefighters and King County Medics assessed a man who was unresponsive and treated him on scene. Medics transported him to MAMC.

June 18

Drowning mutual aid: 5:38 p.m. (Lake Sammamish). Technical rescue team members responded to a drowning in Lake Sammamish, where Dive 333 launched its boat, assumed technical safety for the dive operation, and arranged for a diver to find and recover the victim.

June 19

Aid call: 11:46 a.m. (Lea Hill). Once firefighters and Auburn Police calmed a man who had been running in and out of traffic, firefighters transported him in stable condition to a local area hospital.

June 20

Vehicle into a building: 8:29 p.m. (Auburn). Firefighters hurrying to a vehicle that hit a building found that it had gone over a curb and struck the outside stairs. Though no one was hurt, the accident displaced one family because the stairs were no longer safe to climb.

Aid call: 10:05 a.m. (Pacific). Firefighters hustled to a man whom Pacific Police found unconscious in a vehicle that had stopped on a roadway. They broke a window to get in and pulled him from the car. The man slowly became alert, admitted to using drugs, but refused further care, so firefighters left him there with Pacific Police.
