Mayor Lewis honored as Sound Cities Association Member Emeritus

Auburn Mayor Pete Lewis was honored as Member Emeritus during the November Sound Cities Association (SCA) Annual Meeting and Dinner. Member Emeritus is the highest honor that can be given to an SCA member.

Auburn Mayor Pete Lewis was honored as Member Emeritus during the November Sound Cities Association (SCA) Annual Meeting and Dinner. Member Emeritus is the highest honor that can be given to an SCA member.

“Pete is truly devoted to this organization, and has helped make it into the major force that it is today,” said Denis Law, SCA president and mayor of Renton. “Mayor Lewis has provided outstanding leadership and distinguished service to SCA. We can think of no one more deserving of the honor.”

According to Law, the award is given rarely, and only to those who have provided exceptional service to SCA. The association represents 35 cities in King County and provides a regional voice for nearly one million people.

Lewis has served as mayor of Auburn from 2002 through 2013 and was on the City Council from 1998 through 2001. Lewis did not seek reelection.

Lewis served on the SCA Board from 2000-2006, 2007-2010 and 2012-2013. He served as SCA president in 2009. He also served on various SCA subcommittee, committees and boards.

SCA (formerly the Suburban Cities Association) was founded in the 1970s to help cities in King County act locally and partner regionally to create vital, livable communities through advocacy, education, leadership, mutual support and networking.
