Mountainview horticulture program to hold plant sale

The Auburn Mountainview High School horticulture program will host its fourth annual plant sale on Thursday and Friday, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., and on Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Auburn Mountainview High School, 28900 124th Ave. SE.

Parking and admission are free.

The plants are hand grown in the school greenhouse with many new varieties for this year, including annuals, perennials, baskets, mixed containers, herbs, vegetables, fuchsias, geraniums and petunias. Prices range from $1-$16. Door prizes will be drawn every half-hour, need not be present to win.

The sale is the culmination of a lot of hard work by the FFA members and the students in the horticulture classes.

“We started with an empty greenhouse in January and it’s wonderful to walk out to see it bursting with color,” says FFA advisor Regina Grubb.

Money raised from the plant sale goes toward the leadership activities of the FFA and enables the members to hold annual banquet, give awards and travel to other contests and leadership functions throughout the year. The horticulture students will be working the sale as part of their final for the greenhouse production and marketing unit.
