For the Reporter

The Auburn Public Schools Foundation (APSF) is a new independent, community-based, nonprofit organization.

The Auburn School Board entered into a partnership with the Auburn Public Schools Foundation on Sept. 10.

Founded in 2011 by a group of community volunteers, APSF recognizes the fact public funds alone cannot adequately support the essential efforts to advance student achievement in the school district.

The APSF will build financial partnerships with individuals, corporations and foundations so that all students have the resources they need to achieve their highest potential.

The foundation will enable the school district to expand innovative and educational opportunities and access to all students.

APSF will support programs and initiatives serving students through a range of fund raising activities, special events and engagement with district stakeholders, including staff, alumni and corporations.

Individuals, groups and organizations are encouraged to get involved. There are a variety of ways to make a difference in student’s lives:

• Make an APSF contribution directly, through payroll deduction, check or online donation.

• Contact APSF with your creative ideas.

• Volunteer to help the foundation and the students.

• Tell others about APSF.
