An Oregon man was killed Saturday morning during a bicycle race near Flaming Geyser State Park, the King County Sheriff’s Office reported.
The cyclist, a 29-year-old Albany, Ore., man, was riding with a group participating in an organized race. The man was riding southbound, downhill on 218th Avenue Southeast, about a half-mile north of Green Valley Road, when he lost control of his bicycle and collided with a guardrail, King County Sheriffs said.
The critically-injured man was taken to Harborview where he later died.
King County Sheriffs responded to the bicycle accident in the area of Southeast Green Valley Parkway and 218th Avenue Southeast around 9:30 a.m.
The King County Sheriff’s Office Major Accident and Reconstruction Unit is investigating the accident.
