Auburn City Councilmember Wayne Osborne has been appointed to the National League of Cities (NLC) Transportation Infrastructure & Services Steering Committee.

The committee has the lead responsibility for developing NLC federal policy positions on issues involving transportation, including planning, funding, safety and security of public transit, streets and highways, aviation, railroads and ports.

NLC President Chris Coleman, mayor of St. Paul, Minn., announced the appointment.

Osborne has been on the City Council since 2012 and is a retired air traffic controller and a former member of the Auburn Airport Advisory Board. He has been active in local and regional committees in King County since being elected to office.

As a member of the committee, Osborne will play a key role in shaping NLC’s policy positions and advocate on behalf of America’s cities and towns before Congress, with the administration and at home.

The chair of this year’s Transportation Infrastructure & Services Steering Committee is Patsy Kinsey, councilmember, Charlotte, N.C. Serving as this year’s vice chairs are Robert Bauman, alderman, Milwaukee, Wisc., and Mary McComber, councilmember, Oak Park Heights, Minn.
