The City of Pacific hosts its annual Pacific Days celebration this weekend at Pacific City Park, 600 Third Ave.
Sponsored by Pacific Partnerships, the event gets under way Friday with the Kid’s Parade. Open to all, participants are encouraged to show off their decorated bikes, trikes or wagons as they parade down Third Avenue from the Pacific Algona Community Center to Pacific City Park.
The parade starts at 6:15 p.m. and those interested in participating are asked to meet at 6 at the Community Center parking lot at 100 Third Ave. SE. All riding participants must wear a helmet. The best decorated entry will be awarded an ice cream cake from Dairy Queen as the grand prize. There will be ice cream cones and Dairy Queen coupons for all participants.
The Pacific Days Grand Parade runs along Third Avenue, beginning at 10 a.m.
A Pooch Pageant runs 2-4 p.m. Sunday at Pacific Park, sponsored by Pacific Partnerships and Terry’s Pretty Pets. Categories include: Best Dressed; Best Costume; Talent Competition; Look-alike Competition; Most Unique Looking; and Best Vocal Performer (howler or barker). A silent auction will raise money for Pacific Partnerships with several items, including a hand-made blanket chest, up for bid.
Music entertainment will be performed throughout the weekend at the Pacific City Park.
