Pacific Mayor Richard Hildreth recently completed the Management of Civil Actions in Threat Incident Command course at the Center for Domestic Preparedness in Anniston, Ala.
The program, one of a number of training programs offered by the Department of Homeland Security at the CDP, is provided at no cost to the local agency. The CDP provides elected officials, police, fire and emergency management personnel important training covering a variety of issues facing local communities.
The program is a continuation of a series of Homeland Security and Emergency Management Programs Mayor Hildreth has completed.
“We have a disconnect in our nation between many of our elected officials and our emergency management/first responder community,” Hildreth said. “My goal is to use my position and my training to help close that gap and increase overall community preparedness in our country.”
Hildreth currently is working to develop a series of training programs focused at policy leaders. These programs will be first used locally and then expanded for use across the country.
Hildreth was recognized nationally last September, winning a Risk Innovator Award from Risk and Insurance Magazine. He is an incident command, continuity of operations planning and community emergency response team (CERT) instructor.
He is certified by FEMA as a master exercise practioner and currently is working on his master trainer credentials. He has served as Mayor of Pacific since 2004, is past chairman of the Valley Regional Fire Authority Governance Board and was appointed by the governor to the State Emergency Management Council.
