Pick-Quick Drive In No. 2 officially opened Tuesday at its Auburn location, 1132 Auburn Way N.

The Auburn restaurant is the first expansion for the popular, family-owned operation since it originally opened for business in Fife in 1949. The 2,450-square-foot restaurant – located at the corner of Auburn Way North and 12th Street Northeast – expects to employ 50 people.

“We are honored to have the opportunity to introduce Auburn to the quick-service dining experience people have been enjoying in Fife since 1949,” said Gerard Centioli, president and CEO of Pick-Quick Development Company LLC.

Pick-Quick, a Burgi family-owned burger institution, and Seattle-based Icon LLC, owned by the Centioli family, have formed a partnership to bring Pick-Quick to Auburn.

Centioli announced on Sept. 9 that the iconic Pick-Quick restaurant would expand to Auburn. The restaurant specializes in burgers, fries and shakes.

Pick-Quick Drive In was opened in Fife more than 60 years ago by owners Jay Adolph and Henrietta Olsen.

The Auburn menu will feature local, natural and sustainable offerings, including fresh Washington beef, fresh potato fries and all-natural ice cream.

Auburn’s Pick-Quick will be able to offer year-round service and indoor seating that the original 450-square-foot Fife location does not offer. The legendary Fife eatery will remain open.

The architecture of the new location is reminiscent of the Fife location and will include green elements.

The Auburn location features 28 dining room and seven indoor bar seats, a drive-thru window and an additional 44 picnic table seats and eight children’s picnic table seats outdoors for guests to enjoy during warm-weather months.

The new Pick-Quick building is LEED certified (U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy Efficiency Design), and the interior of the restaurant features glass windows where diners can view the production of every item served in the restaurant.

In addition, the chairs in the restaurant are each made from 111 recycled plastic Coca-Cola bottles. The parking lot and walkways outside of the restaurant are made with pervious concrete, which allows for rain water to be collected in a rain garden and used to water the landscape. The water from the hand sinks is filtered, collected in the rain garden and used to water the landscape.

The parking lot also will feature two spaces reserved exclusively for hybrid fuel-efficient cars.

Pick-Quick Drive In No. 2 will be open 10:30 a.m.-10 p.m. Sunday-Thursday, and 10:30 a.m.-11 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
