The Auburn Valley Humane Society (AVHS) presents its inaugural Pet Photo Calendar Contest, which gives pet lovers everywhere an opportunity to show off their lovable pets while raising money for the homeless and abandoned animals at the shelter.

While the contest is a way for pet owners to have a little fun bragging about the cuteness factor of their favorite pet, it’s also an opportunity to raise awareness about the need for local support to help them continue to fulfill their important mission.

Pet owners are urged to submit a photo of their favorite two or four-legged friend to the contest from now until Sept. 30.

How to enter? Fill out and submit an official AVHS 2014 Pet Photo Calendar Contest entry form which can be found on the website at www.auburnvalleyhs.org or by stopping by the shelter.

• Provide a digital color photo in horizontal layout 8-by-10-inch in size, on a compact disc with that single photograph saved to the highest resolution as a .jpg file.

• Write a brief description (75 words or less) of how your pet has improved your life.

• Pay the $10 entry fee.

• Next, ask your friends and family to vote using the link found at www.auburnvalleyhs.org. Each vote is $1. Vote as many times as you wish. Every vote is tax deductible.

Voting ends at midnight, Sunday, Oct. 20.

Winners will be announced Oct. 22 and placement in the 2014 AVHS Pet Photo Calendar will be awarded to the top 12 receiving the most votes. The single entry with the most votes/donations will be awarded the cover of the calendar and one month in the calendar. Month assignment of the remaining 11 finalists will be determined by AVHS staff.

All 12 finalists also will receive a complimentary copy of the calendar. All other contestants photos will also be used through out the calendar pages as graphic highlights.
