Poetry at the Rainbow Café presents the works of Martha Silano and Julie Courey on Monday, April 4.

The program is from 7 to 9 p.m. at the café, 112 E. Main St.

Coffee and conversation follow readings. It is an open mic opportunity. The public is invited.

About the poets

Silano has written four full-length collections of poetry, including “The Little Office of the Immaculate Conception”, winner of the 2010 Saturnalia Books Poetry Prize and a Washington State Book Award finalist, and “Reckless Lovely” (Saturnalia Books, 2014).

She is also co-editor, with Kelli Russell Agodon, of The Daily Poet: Day-By-Day Prompts For Your Writing Practice (Two Sylvias Press 2013).

Silano’s poems have appeared in many magazines, including Poetry, Poetry Daily, AGNI, American Poetry Review, Prairie Schooner, Crab Orchard Review, Beloit Poetry Journal, and are forthcoming in Blackbird, Mississippi Review, and elsewhere.

Her poem, “Love”, appears in The Best American Poetry 2009.

She teaches at Bellevue College, edits Crab Creek Review and blogs at Blue Positive.

Courey, a native of the greater Seattle area, has been published in Anthologies such as The International Library of Poetry (2001), The Colors of our Dreams, World Poetry Movement (2012, 2014), Stars in Our Hearts, and others. She is a regular open mic participant in numerous regional open mic events. She is a writer of villanelles as well as her heart touching free verse.
