Auburn police responded to the following calls for service, among many others, between Nov. 29 and Nov. 30:
Nov. 29
Theft from car: 9 a.m., 10800 block of Southeast 277th Street. A guy admitted to stealing property from a car, so police promptly arrested him for prowling a vehicle and for possession of pot.
Suds swiper: 11:38 a.m., 201 Auburn Way S. An employee of a local Auburn convenience store reported that an unknown person – male or female, young, old, who knows, police didn’t say – swiped a can of beer and put it in his or her jacket while pretending that he or she didn’t have the money to buy a second can he or she had employed as a decoy.
Vandalism: 10:28 a.m., 1400 block of 167th Avenue East. Somebody, or several somebodies, performed unnamed acts of mischief on an unspecified number of mail boxes, resulting in undisclosed damages.
Purse theft: 2:45 p.m., 801 Auburn Way N. A Fred Meyer loss prevention officer spotted a male or female trying to swipe a wallet from a customer’s purse and tried to catch the thief. The thief slipped away, but the wallet was recovered. The loss prevention officer said the person appeared to match exactly the description of a thief they had caught on camera committing several similar incidents in the recent past.
Shoplifting: 4 p.m., 1101 Supermall Way. Police arrested a boy for shoplifting who knows what from the Sports Authority in the SuperMall.
Shoplifting II, the sequel:
4:46 p.m., 1101 Supermall Way. Police arrested a man and woman for shoplifting something or other from the Sports Authority at the SuperMall.
Nov. 30
Burglary: 9:42 a.m., 1800 block of R Street Southeast. A person or persons unknown first burglarized numerous units at the Public Storage facility of undisclosed items then cut through a fence that separated it from the Auto Pointe Car Dealership. They entered said dealership and stole numerous tires and the power meter box. Police did not disclose a value.
Theft from motor vehicle:
11:59 p.m., 1344 17th St. SE. An Auburn dealership reported that thieves broke into two inventory vehicles on Thanksgiving Day. Police didn’t disclose if anything was stolen.
Disorderly conduct: 12:40 p.m., 800 4th St. NE. Several Auburn High School students were involved in some sort of altercation at school during lunch.
