Police blotter | Feb. 6

Auburn police responded to the following calls for service between Jan. 30 and Feb. 4:

Jan. 30

Assault: 9:30 a.m., 2400 Auburn Way N. An unknown man assaulted another man on a King County Metro bus.

Shoplifting: 10:23 a.m., 1425 Supermall Way S.W. Police arrested a man for stealing a bag of disposable razors from Walmart.

Theft: 2:45 p.m., 11 3rd St. N.W. A customer at the US Post Office told an employee that he or she had seen a man pocketing outlet covers from the lobby inside the building.

Purse theft: 9:33 p.m., 112 E. Main St. A woman told police that somebody stole her purse while she went to use the bathroom at the Rainbow Cafe.

Jan. 31

Weapons offense: 12:40 a.m., 3300 block of M Street Southeast. A homeowner reported three gun shots and a shattered glass exterior door. Police still don’t know who did it.

Possession of cocaine: 8:45 a.m., 2200 block of I Street Northeast. Police arrested a man during a traffic stop for driving with a suspended license. While searching the car, the officer found 6.8 grams of cocaine under the driver’s seat. Police also arrested a passenger of the vehicle for a confirmed Auburn warrant and possession of auto theft tools.

Feb. 1

Theft from car: 2300 block of Stuck River Drive Southeast. An unknown person damaged an Auburn man’s vehicle. Two persons visiting Auburn saw the suspect attacking the vehicle and gave chase until the suspect lost them.

Robbery with firearm: 3:28 p.m., 1509 Auburn Way S. A man brandishing a pistol committed armed robbery when he demanded the pharmacist at Rite Aid hand over all of the Oxycontin.

Feb. 2

Had it with graffiti: 9 p.m., 1100 block of 25th Street Southeast. A fed-up homeowner pleaded with police to please, please, please address a graffiti problem on his street after his fence was victimized a third time. This marking came at the hands of two young boys whom the person surprised, hollered at and scared away. After the second attack four days earlier, a city code enforcement officer had issued the homeowner a 15-day notice of removal forcing him to paint the treated wood fence. By now, the homeowner has just had it, he said, and cannot afford to repaint the same fence every week.

Theft: 3 p.m., 800 4th St. N.E. A substitute teacher at Auburn High School told police her wallet was lifted from her purse two weeks ago while it was in her classroom.

Feb. 3

Theft from vehicle: 6:55 a.m., 2916 Auburn Way N. Somebody stole a backpack and purse from the front seat of a vehicle while it was parked at the Kindercare on Auburn Way North. Somebody, perhaps the thief, then used the VISA debit card that had been in the purse at the time of said theft, ringing up $600 in ill-gotten goodies from Target and the Shucks store in Kent.

Assault with aggravating injury: 10:09 p.m., 3600 block of Juniper Court Southeast. A woman’s co-worker called 911 to report the woman’s boyfriend beating up on her.

Suspicious person: 8:34 p.m., 600 block of 29th Street Southeast. Someone called 911 after seeing a man in a van following a 15-year-old girl as she was walking down the street.

Feb. 4

Shoplifting: 4 a.m., 1702 Auburn Way N. Police arrested a man for shoplifting three cans of soup from Top Foods. Police did not disclose a value for the purloined comestibles.
