Auburn police responded to the following calls for service between June 14 and June 17:
June 14
Burglary: 11:45 a.m., 1620 Industry Drive SW. A business reported that someone had tried to break in sometime over the weekend. Police didn’t say if anything was actually stolen.
Light thieves: 7:50 a.m., 1400 block of 22nd Street Northeast. Subjects unknown swiped solar lights out of their owner’s yard. Police did not disclose a value.
Wanted to get high: 10:53 a.m., 1425 Supermall Way SW. Police arrested a woman for huffing an air duster in an attempt to alter her frame of mind in the parking lot of Walmart.
Burglary: 10:30 a.m., 300 block of A Street Northeast. Some lout stole a piece of landscaping machinery. Police didn’t say what the equipment was or give a value.
June 15
Theft from vehicle: 8:12 a.m., 900 block of I Street Northeast. Somebody broke into a car parked alongside a city street and swiped an HP laptop computer of undisclosed value.
Theft: 3 p.m., 1300 block of Auburn Way N. Somebody unknown stole a purse from the back office of an undisclosed business.
Vandalism: 5 p.m., 1800 block of Ginkgo Street Southeast. Somebody vandalized a concrete walkway on private property. Police did not say how it was vandalized or offer a damage estimate.
June 16
Shoplifting: 12:30 p.m., 101 Auburn Way S. Store security at Safeway caught a man sneaking out of the store with a basket full of goodies he had plucked off the shelves but neglected to pay for. The man conceded this had not exactly been the smartest thing to do, but pleaded that he had no food in the house. Officers found a handwritten list of grocery items in his pants pocket that matched many of the items swiped. Police arrested the thief and booked him into the Auburn jail.
Fireworks: 2 p.m., 1825 K St. SE. Fireworks taken from students at Olympic Middle school were quickly earmarked for destruction.
Theft from motor vehicle: 8:57 p.m., 1101 Supermall Way SW. Somebody smashed the driver’s side window of a car in the SuperMall parking lot. SuperMall Security saw the bad guy on security cameras, but he hopped into a silver Ford Mustang and got away.
Shoplifting: 1:50 a.m., 201 Auburn Way S. Four to five guys, ranging in ages from 10 to 20 years old, shoplifted two cases of Budweiser from a Shell gas station. The suds thieves were last seen traveling south on Auburn Way South.
June 17
Obstructing justice: 2:49 a.m., 300 block of 41st Street Southeast. Police arrested a man for obstruction when he lied to police about his identity because he thought he had a warrant.
