Police blotter | Oct. 23

Auburn police responded to the following calls for service, among many others, between Oct. 18 and Oct. 20:

Oct. 18

Controlled Substances: 9:30 a.m., 30400 block of 124th Avenue Southeast. Police arrested a male, age unknown, for possession of methamphetamines after somebody found him on posted private property sorting through scrap metal in the parking lot.

Vandalism: 2 a.m., 1400 block of Harvey Road Northeast. Unknown persons scratched the driver’s side front and rear doors of a tan 2004 Chevy Tahoe. Police did not disclose the amount of damages.

Vandalism: 3:30 p.m., 2204 A St. S.E. The co-owner of Bernard Motors Auto Service reported that between Oct. 16 and Oct. 18, somebody came into his parking lot and smashed out one of the windows of a white Daewood Nubria. Police did not disclose the amount of damages.

Theft from car: 7:55 p.m., 1101 Supermall Way Southwest. By unknown means, somebody unlawfully entered a vehicle locked and parked at the Auburn SuperMall and stole a purse, a GPS, a sub-woofer and the vehicle center console tray. Police did not disclose a value.

Collision with hit and run: 6:33 p.m., 2800 block of F Street Southeast. A male person — old, young, police didn’t say — told police that an oncoming black Honda Civic hit him as he was riding his bicycle on the wrong side of the roadway, in the dark, with no helmet or head lamp on and did not stop. The victim did not see the license plate or the driver. He drove his bicycle to his home six blocks away and called 911. An ambulance transported him to Auburn Regional Medical Center for side pain. An area check failed to turn up that black Honda.

Theft: 8 p.m., 4500 block of D Street Northwest. The warehouse manager of a local beer and wine distributor reported multiple break-ins into a locked and secured garbage Dumpster that holds hundreds of damaged or expired bottles or cans of beer or wine.

Oct. 19

Vandalism: 6:46 a.m., 500 block of A Street Southeast. Persons unknown vandalized somebody’s property in some sort of way, resulting in some sort of damages.

Burglary: 9:30 a.m., 2201 W Valley Highway, Suite D. Unknown persons broke into Certapro Painters and stole miscellaneous undefined items worth undisclosed amounts.

Shoplifting: 5 p.m., 101 Auburn Way S. Police arrested a person, age and gender undefined, for shoplifting items, equally undefined, at Safeway after an employee caught said person in the act of said shoplifting. Police did not disclose a value.

Shoplifting: 5:58 p.m., 101 Auburn Way S. Three persons, age and gender undefined, shoplifted a large amount of undefined merchandise from Safeway. An employee told a bicycle police officer who happened to be in the parking lot all about it while the three thieves unloaded the stolen goods into their vehicle. The bad guys sped away but their vehicle description was radioed to nearby officers who quickly caught up with them.

Hit and run: 8:40 p.m., 5000 block of A Street Southeast. A boy told police that a passing vehicle hit him and drove off. The boy sustained no visible injuries.

Oct. 20

Theft from vehicle: 8:41 a.m., 500 block of 21st Street Southeast. Somebody stole a .40 cal handgun, two magazines and approximately 1000 rounds of ammunition from a man’s truck. The man realized the items were missing when he retrieved the truck from the tow company that had impounded it as an abandoned vehicle.

Postal theft: 2:22 p.m., 1000 block of U Street Northwest. Somebody swiped a box that UPS had delivered and left on a woman’s doorstep.

Burglary: Noon, 6200 block of South 300th Street. Somebody entered an unlocked shed and stole tools and a Honda XR80R motorcycle. No value was given.
