The search ended Wednesday afternoon for a man who’d threatened to kill the mother of his 15-month-old daughter then fled with the child.

Auburn Detectives with the help of Tukwila Police arrested 33-year-old Anthony Burton in Tukwila at about 2:30 p.m.

“He is in custody on felony domestic violence charges, and I anticipate he will be transported to King County Jail sometime this evening or tomorrow,” said Auburn Police Cmdr. Steve Stocker.

The 15-month-old child is safe and has been re-united with her mother.

Shortly before 12:30 p.m., Auburn Police reported that they had the child.

“The suspect had a friend take the child to his mother’s residence in the Spanaway area. Our detectives were on location when the friend showed up, and they took the child into safe keeping.” Stocker said.

The incident prompted an Amber Alert.

Police responded to a domestic violence call Wednesday after Burton left an Auburn residence at 1900 Fir St. SE with the girl.

Burton also threatened “suicide by cop” if confronted by law enforcement, police reported.

During the incident the mother fled to call 911, police said, and Burton fled the scene before police arrived, taking the baby with him.

Burton had made comments to family in the past that he would kill himself, the victim and his daughter because of ongoing family issues, police reported.

Burton last spoke to police and family by phone on Tuesday afternoon, but refused to bring the child to family members or authorities.
