Students and staff at Lakeland Hills Elementary practiced a large-scale earthquake and evacuation drill last Friday.
The drill had simulated building damage and student injuries. They practiced classroom evacuation, search and rescue, first aid and how to reunite families with students in case of a real emergency.
Valley Regional Fire Authority and Auburn Emergency Management staff were on hand to observe the drill and provide feedback.
The Great Washington Shakeout Drill is at 10:19 a.m. on Oct. 19. All Auburn schools will be participating to some degree to practice earthquake readiness.
