The City of Auburn, in conjunction with the American Red Cross, is offering emergency shelter operations training on Saturday, Feb. 21 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Park, 405 E St. NE in Auburn.

Those who finish the training will have the opportunity to become City of Auburn or American Red Cross disaster volunteers.

Training prepares volunteers to effectively and sensitively manage shelter operations as a team while meeting the needs of people displaced as a result of a disaster. The course provides participants with an opportunity to apply the knowledge, skills and abilities required to operate a successful shelter by including a hands-on shelter simulation at the end of the class.
