A family of four escaped a fire that destroyed their home in Auburn at midnight Wednesday.
The residents and their pets escaped without injury from their home at 31828 118th Place SE, according to the Valley Regional Fire Authority.
Neighbors spotted flames coming from the home and called 911 just after midnight. The first-arriving crew found heavy smoke and flames coming from the approximately 1,800-square-foot, two-story home and was able to quickly knock down the fire. Crews from the VRFA and Kent Fire RFA worked together to extinguish the fire.
A VRFA fire investigator is trying to determine the cause of the fire.
The American Red Cross is helping the family find temporary housing.
