Under gray skies and between periodic showers, the area’s sportsmen drag racing season

officially began last weekend

at Pacific Raceways.

The track, which has undergone many improvements, hosts a wide variety of races on the quarter-mile drag strip, road course, as well as on the motocross and shifter kart tracks, throughout the year.

Right, John Collecchi and his 4-year-old son, JD, both of Maple Valley, wipe down John’s 1954 Corvette. Both were excited for the opener. John enjoys his hobby and hopes his son will join the Junior Dragster program later.
