In early returns Tuesday, voters within the Auburn School District were approving the district’s $22 million technology capital projects levy by a 54-to-46 percent margin.

As of 8:15 p.m., 4,901 votes were yes, and 4,160 were no.

The early results reflect a moment when only 9,070 votes had been counted, 23.67 percent of the total pool of 38,320 registered voters, but district success in this election requires only a simple majority.

The next update was to be at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, after this issue went to press.

The levy provides six years of funding to take recommendations made by the 2013 Technology Citizens Ad Hoc Committee and set them in motion. It replaces the 2005 technology levy.

Auburn School District officials have said that with the levy’s passage, local taxpayers’ projected school tax rate would remain level.
