Amanda Allison, a junior at Tahoma Senior High School in Maple Valley, participated last week in the Senate Page Program during the second week of the 2012 session. Allison was sponsored by Sen. Joe Fain, R-Auburn.

The Senate Page Program is an opportunity for Washington students to get firsthand experience working in the Legislature. Pages get a variety of experiences in their week-long stay in Olympia, including running errands, delivering mail, and paging in the Senate Chamber. Pages are also taught about parliamentary procedure and the legislative process. Allison was one of 22 students chosen to participate last week.

“The page program is full of great kids and Amanda is no exception,” Fain said. “I’m glad she was able to take advantage of this opportunity to learn about our state government.”

“My father raised me to be very involved in politics,” Allison said. “So you can imagine how excited I was when Sen. Fain asked me to escort him to meet Gov. Gregoire.”

Allison is her school’s ASB leader and is on the speech and debate team. She keeps busy playing sports such as basketball, softball, and volleyball.

Allison is the daughter of Bill and Kelly Allison.
