State Sen. Pam Roach (R-Auburn) has been appointed to key leadership roles with the National Foundation for Women Legislators (NFWL), both here and abroad.
Nominated by colleagues from states within the region during the 2010 NFWL Annual Conference, Roach will serve as state director for Washington.
“I am honored to represent women legislators at a national level and welcome the new challenge,” Roach said.
As the NFWL state director, Roach will serve as the organization’s contact for elected women in the state and work to support NFWL’s mission within Washington.
“Sen. Roach is an articulate and impassioned leader,” said NFWL President & CEO Robin Read. “Her leadership will be an asset to the Foundation, and I am confident that with her commitment this will be one of the most exciting and productive years that NFWL has seen.”
Roach also is chairperson of the organization’s International Relations Committee. Her appointment as state director and her role on the International Relations Committee chair led to her recent selection to lead a national delegation on an upcoming mission to Taiwan. The trip takes place on May 14-21, and includes 20 members from various governmental organizations from around the United States.
The mission is sponsored by the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office, based in Washington, D.C.
The National Foundation for Women Legislators is to provide strategic resources to women leaders for leadership development and effective governance through conferences, seminars, educational materials, professional and personal relationships, and networking at both the state and federal levels.
NFWL facilitates 10 full committees throughout the year with the purpose of drafting model resolutions and legislation. The meetings provide opportunities for debate of current issues facing women legislators today which help them become more effective lawmakers.
