Local veterans Bob Newman and Don Chadwick invite the public for a “Tribute to Veterans” – a special commemoration of the Korean Conflict in honor of Armed Forces Day.
The free event will be held from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. May 13 at the Auburn Senior Activity Center, 808 Ninth St. SE.
Newman, who served for the Navy on the USS Valley Forge, and Chadwick, one of the Marines who survived the savage battles in the Chosin Reservoir, will share their experiences. They will be joined by disable U.S. Air Force veteran Robert Boyd, an aircraft mechanic during the Vietnam War who also operated as a top secret and highly covert CIA Scout-Sniper. Boyd recently wrote a book, “Codename Lightfoot,” about his experience in Vietnam.
