Sound Transit plans open houses about light rail stations in Kent

Sound Transit will have two open houses in September for people to learn about the light rail extension project from SeaTac to Federal Way as well as provide input about the design of the three stations.

With construction starting in 2019, Sound Transit is committed to designing stations that reflect the goals and priorities of the community. Input from residents will help shape the look and feel of three new stations located near Kent Des Moines Road and Pacific Highway South in Kent, South 272nd Street and Interstate 5 in Kent and the Federal Way Transit Center.

At the open houses, people can have questions answered by the project team and provide input about the character of all three stations. Light rail is scheduled to begin service to Federal Way in 2024.

Sound Transit also has an online survey for input about the stations at federalwaylink.com.

The open houses are 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 13, at the Federal Way Community Center, 876 S. 333rd St.; and 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, at Highline College Building 2, 2400 S. 240th St., in Des Moines.
