Don Stevenson recently completed his 1,000-mile benefit and awareness walk for the Pulmonary Hypertension Association (PHA).

Auburn’s Pacing Parson covered the entire distance using a walker and an oxygen tank to demonstrate the plight of many pulmonary hypertension patients.

“It went well. I had no problem at all,” said Stevenson, a retired pastor who completed the final mile at the Riverbend Bridge on the Sumner Link Trail on March 7. “I’ve met a lot of good people along the way.”

Stevenson walked at least 20 miles a day throughout Western Washington. He started the walk on Jan. 4, his 80th birthday. Just two weeks later, his friend, Dorothy Fitch, to whom he had dedicated the walk, lost her life to PH.

Stevenson raised $2,000 for PHA.

He has tentative plans to join a relay walk for PHA later this year.
