Property damage reporting and recovery

The City of Auburn is taking steps to help its citizens to address storm damage. If citizens suffered damage from the recent snow and ice storms, property owners should check with their personal insurance carriers to determine if costs associated with storm damage are covered under their policies.

Residents who have uninsured property damage need to report that information to the County they live in. King County residents can report online or call 800-523-5044. Pierce County residents can report online or call 866-798-6363.

Businesses that suffered physical or economic damage should file a preliminary damage report with their respective counties. These reports are the first step to receiving federal assistance for business recovery activities.

Businesses in King County that suffered physical damage should file a report by visiting the King County website or calling 1-800-523-5044. Businesses in King County that suffered economic damage should also fill out the Estimated Disaster Economic Injury Worksheet and submit it according to the instructions provided.

Businesses in Pierce County can report all types of damage by visiting the Online Pierce County Damage Reporting Tool or calling 1-866-798-6363.

Those that feel that City action specifically caused the damages – going beyond the “act of nature” status and were caused by the City of Auburn, such person has the right to file a claim for damages which would be investigated by the City’s insurance provider. More information can be found here.
