For the Reporter

Sumner High School selected longtime Auburn High School coach and athletic director Bob Jones as the beneficiary for the ninth annual Benefit Talent show at 7 p.m., Feb. 19 and 20 at the Sumner High School Performing Arts Center, 1707 W. Main St.

The Sumner High School ASB also is hosting a dinner and silent auction at 6 p.m. March 3 at Bonney Lake High School, 10920 199th Ave. Court E. All proceeds will help pay medical bills for Jones and his family.

Jones was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in October 2013. Initially the prognosis looked good until the discovery of another tumor in November 2014.

Despite the setback, Jones says he still maintains an attitude of “focusing on today” and trying to find the positive in everyday life. He remains involved in the Auburn and Lake Tapps communities.
