Surgeons offering program for children to discover more about careers in medical, dental fields

The Pacific Northwest Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons’ (PNWOMS) Academic Advantage program provides an opportunity for children to learn more about pursuing a career in the medical or dental field.

PNWOMS is launching a program designed to help kids who are interested in health care careers. Doctors started the free program as a way of rallying the support of health care professionals in the community to ensure students in Auburn and in surrounding cities have an opportunity to pursuit these careers in the future.

The organization hosts a free event Saturday, from 10 to 11:30 a.m., in the William C. Warren Building at Auburn’s Veterans Park, 405 E St. NE.

Featured speakers include: Dr. Michael Johnson, oral and maxillofacial surgeon at Pacific Northwest Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons; Teri Thompson, professional college consultant at Thompson College Consulting; Dr. Ryan Anardi, Anardi Family and Cosmetic Dentistry; and Mitch Diaz, admissions counselor at the University of Washington.

Doctors will be giving children the knowledge and tools necessary to become tomorrow’s doctors, nurses, dentists, etc. For students who are interested in learning more about a health care career, the Academic Advantage program can give them the perspective they need to succeed.

For those interested in the program, please RSVP at pnwoms.com.
