Technology ruining families

As I look back into yesteryear I see myself lying on the floor watching family friendly shows and eating popcorn with my parents in the very same room. Imagine that, one TV and the family spending time together.

Today’s family seldom eats a meal together, much less spends the evening in the same room.

Usually dad is on the computer, the girls are in one room watching who knows what, the boys are playing video games and mom is in another room watching something else. This really is a picture of today’s American family.

Our kids’ minds are being filled with the garbage of Hollywood, and it would appear that we really don’t care because the shows continue to get worse. They only produce what we watch.

Even when families are watching family friendly shows, which are getting harder to find, the time that is being robbed from building relationships is causing many divorces, affairs and troubled kids feeling that they have no one to talk to.

It is time that going to church as a family, education, board games at the kitchen table, old fashioned walks and “just being a family” who enjoys time spent together becomes a priority instead of a burden.

Many families would struggle with conversation if they had to do without the TV, cell phone, computer or video games for just one night. Try it!

As parents it is time that we wake up, unplug and take control of our families.
