A 16-year-old boy died on July 12 in Auburn after a confrontation between two parties resulted in a shooting.
According to the King County Medical Examiner’s Office, Xavier Lamont Machi Landry, 16, died on July 12 in Auburn as a result of multiple gunshot wounds suffered in a roadway on A Street Southeast. Medical examiners have identified Landry’s death as a homicide.
According to the Auburn Police Department, officers responded at 10:45 p.m. July 12 to a shooting in the 500 block of A Street Southeast. After arriving at the scene, officers discovered a 16-year-old boy suffering from “at least one gunshot wound.”
According to an email from Kolby Crossley, a spokesperson for the Auburn Police Department, the 16-year-old boy suffered a gunshot to the upper torso.
First responders performed lifesaving measures on the 16-year-old boys, and later pronounced him as deceased at the scene.
Shortly after, first responders discovered two additional minors with gunshot wounds in the arm and leg, and transported them to the hospital for treatment. As of July 13, both minors have been released from the hospital.
Investigators collected evidence from the scene, including 19 shell casings, cellphones and more.
According to Crossley, investigators are examining the possibility of the incident serving as gang-related. Law enforcement do not believe there is a threat to the community, with the shooting having resulted from a confrontation between two groups outdoors.
As of July 13, law enforcement have no suspects and investigation into the fatal shooting continues.
