An 18-year-old man is in Harborview Medical Center with a serious gunshot wound he received early Wednesday morning in the parking lot of the Lakeland Hills Town Center.
According to Auburn Police Cmdr. Steve Stocker, 911 received a call at 12:08 a.m. of a one-car accident at the intersection of 69th and Lakeland Hills Way.
Responding officers found a Chevy Tahoe that had crashed into a tree on the northeast corner of the intersection. In the driver’s seat, officers found a man in the driver’s seat with a gunshot wound.
According to Stocker, subsequent investigation revealed that some sort of altercation had occurred in the parking lot of the Lakeland Hills Town Center before the shooting, and that the victim then drove to the area of 69th and Lakeland Hills Way, where he lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the tree.
Medics treated the man at the scene and transported him to Harborview, where his condition remains unknown at this time.
“At this time we do not know what led up to the shooting. Auburn detectives are diligently working leads to find the perpetrator(s),” Stocker said.
