Seattle Thunderbirds general manager Russ Farwell today announced the team has acquired center Brendan Rouse from the Brandon Wheat Kings in exchange for goalie Jacob DeSerres.
“With Pickard here in place as our starter, this is the best move to give Jake an opportunity to play,” said Farwell “Brandon will be hosting the Memorial Cup this season and this could be a great chance for Jake to highlight his abilities in net. We wish Jake the best of luck in Brandon.”
“We wanted to be sure we were adding a player to our team right now,” continued Farwell. “Brendan is a hard-working young player who will help us today and fits with the young group we have maturing together for the future.”
Rouse is a 17-year-old center from Langley, British Columbia, who has appeared in six games with the Wheat Kings this season. He has two points, both on assists. Rouse, in his first season in the WHL, was a fifth round selection, 110th overall, in the 2007 Bantam Draft by the Wheat Kings.
This season DeSerres has appeared in three games with the T-Birds and has a 0-3-0-0 record with a 5.00 goals against average and a .851 save percentage.
Entering this season, DeSerres has a three-year T- Birds career record of 41-26-0-3 with a goals against average of 2.70 and save percentage of .908. DeSerres has seven career shutouts with the T-Birds.
