Auburn’s JoAnn Huntley and Ricona, a red Labrador, won Best in Breed at the United Kennel Club Washington Classic Dog Show at Argus Ranch over the Fourth of July weekend.

Huntley’s sister, Pam Gunderson of Auburn, owns the dog.

Ollie Noble, of Tacoma, and her six-month Basenji took home the top prize, Best of Show. For Noble, it was a big surprise since it was the first time she had entered the pup in any event.

The Puget Sound K-9s presented the two-day show, which drew 250 participants.

Established in 1896, the UKC is one of the largest all-breed performance-dog registries in the world.

The show included obedience trials, rally obedience and agility trials and outdoor judging contests. Also included was a junior program.
