With flawless phrasing and exacting intonation, the Brigham Young University Singers have won international competitions and built worldwide relationships with choral musicians and audience members alike.

The 40-voice ensemble performs at the Auburn Performing Arts Center at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 1.

The BYU Singers are grounded in classic choral tradition, but extend their talent to pieces of various periods and styles. International folk songs, hymns and moving African-American spirituals are a sampling of the genres included in the BYU Singers’ repertoire. The spirit of the music is beautifully expressed by the members of the choir, and once the concert begins, the diverse talents and professionalism of the BYU Singers is apparent.

Dr. Ronald J. Staheli, founding conductor of the choir, has led the group since its creation in 1984. Staheli carefully selects pieces for their programs and edits and arranges the music performed.

BYU Singers have traveled to more than 27 countries throughout the world, including Russia, Romania, Hungary, Austria, England, Italy, Israel, Egypt, New Zealand, and South Africa. Most recently the choir toured Wales, England, where they sang their impressive set in world-renowned locations.
