Valley Regional Fire Authority (VRFA) firefighters remain on the scene of an Auburn warehouse fire late Tuesday night.
There were no reported injuries.
According to the VRFA, the fire began at approximately 5:42 p.m. in a warehouse that houses the business Monster Metal. The large two-story, metal warehouse is located at 2809 Academy Drive SE, near the boys dormitory on the Auburn Adventist Academy.
The owner of the business and his dog were present when the fire began and evacuated safely before calling 911.
No one else was in the building.
Two ladder trucks, five fire engines, a medic unit and a rehabilitation unit responded to the two-alarm fire. The VRFA was assisted by crews from South King Fire & Rescue, Kent Fire Authority RFA, Mountain View Fire and Rescue, King County Medic One and the Tukwila Fire Explorers.
A large column of smoke was visible from several miles away, and first-arriving crews found the warehouse fully involved in fire. Once they knew that the building had been evacuated, they took a defensive position, fighting the fire from the outside only.
As of 9:30 p.m., firefighters had made significant progress on the fire, using a combination of firefighting foam and water.
The business conducts welding and blacksmith work, and there were reports of tanks of gasoline, propane, oxygen and acetylene on site.
The fire is under investigation.
