The community came together Sunday to celebrate Uniquely Auburn.

The event displayed cultural diversity by recognizing people, places and events that make Auburn unique.

Uniquely Auburn included performances by the Auburn Dance Academy; the Bhangra Indian Dancers; Native American Dancers; Auburn Symphony cellist Brian Wharton and his cello choir; interviews with school district Superintendent Kip Herren about the new Auburn High school and Don Edwards from the Auburn Valley Humane Society; Ben Cook’s “Showdown with Casey”; as well as a special “Top Ten” list delivered by Deputy Mayor Nancy Backus; unique videos; and more.

Prior to the performance in the theatre, the public enjoyed an art and poetry exhibit featuring local artists, as well as a robotics demonstration with Olympic Middle School students in the lobby.

Following the on-stage program at the Auburn Performing Arts Center, a complimentary “sit-down” Greek-style dinner featured “trivia” with the Kiwanis and prizes.

The Muckleshoot Indian Tribe, Soroptimist International of Auburn, City of Auburn Arts Commission, Auburn School District, and Trillium sponsored the 18th annual event.
