The White River Valley museum and Mary Olson Farm are looking for a few good volunteers.

Volunteers are needed to lead school field trips September to December at the Mary Olson Farm.

“In the fall we tour every first- and sixth-grader in the Auburn School District,” said Rachael Burrum, museum and farm curator of education. “While at the farm, students move between hands-on activity stations, learning about either food on a farm or the lives and ecosystems of salmon. To deliver these high-quality learning experiences we require a team of superstar volunteers willing to brave the elements to educate our students.”

For those interested in becoming a part of the farm’s field trip team or would like more information, attend farm field trip training on Sept. 19 at the farm.

About Mary Olson Farm

The White River Valley Museum worked with the City of Auburn to restore Mary Olson Farm, one of the best preserved historic subsistence farms in King County. The farm is a King County Landmark and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Significant features include an 1897 barn, a fully restored 1902 farmhouse, a century-old orchard, three salmon runs in Olson Creek and a remarkable collection of outbuildings, including a smoke house, outhouse and weaving house. The farm operates as a living history and environmental learning site, and is also available for community and special events.
