Valley Regional Fire Authority units and King County Medic One responded to reports of a motor vehicle accident in the median of Highway 167 north of the Highway 18 interchange Friday morning.

Units on location found one heavily damaged compact car and two entrapped patients, one of whom was unconscious. Firefighters used specialized equipment to extricate both occupants.

One patient, a woman, was transported to Harborview Medical Center via Airlift Northwest with life-threatening injuries. The second patient, an adult male and the vehicle’s driver, was transported to Valley Medical Center via King County Medic One.

The Washington State Patrol was investigating.
