The Valley Regional Fire Authority sent 19 firefighters to battle a blaze in a home in the 1400 block of D Place Southeast late Wednesday afternoon.
No one was hurt in the fire, which broke out in the bathroom of a duplex at 1428 D Place S.E. shortly after 5 p.m.
The occupant called 911 to report smoke and flames in the bathroom of the duplex and fire spreading to the rest of the residence. Minutes later, firefighters arrived to find the occupants had left the home and a small amount of dark smoke leaving the structure. Firefighters entered the building and extinguished the fire quickly. They searched the home to confirm that everybody had gotten out safely and the fire had not spread.
Investigators have not yet determined the cause of the fire and the extent of damage.
