Between April 7 and 13, the Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to 201 calls for service, among them the following:

April 7

Construction accident: 6:02 p.m., (North Auburn). Firefighters dispatched to a private home found a young man with multiple injuries, lying on the ground in extreme pain. The man had been crushed between the home and the bucket of a backhoe. King County Medics stabilized the man and transported him to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for more evaluation and treatment.

April 8

Sprinkler activation: 1:52 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters responding to a sprinkler water flow alarm at the Boeing complex worked with Boeing Fire to determine that a mechanical problem had caused the accidental malfunction.

April 9

Accident: 12:45 p.m., (Lea Hill). Firefighters hustling to a car-versus-semi accident on Highway 18 found a sedan that had run into the back of a semi-trailer, locking the vehicles together and moving them to the right shoulder. Firefighters evaluated one person and transported him or her to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center (MAMC).

April 10

Aid call: 10:06 a.m., (Pacific). After firefighters evaluated an older woman who had fallen from a ladder and struck her head, a private ambulance transported her to an area hospital.

April 11

Smoke investigation: 4:15 p.m., (Algona). Firefighters dispatched to a possible commercial vehicle fire in Algona determined that it had been a brake fire and that the driver had already extinguished it.

April 12

House fire: 12 p.m., (Lake Tapps). Firefighters responding to a mutual-aid request from East Pierce Fire Rescue on Tacoma Point found a minor structure fire, which they quickly put out. VRFA firefighters helped clear smoke from the home.

April 13

Water problem: 12:45 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters responding to the 2200 block of Auburn Way North for a water problem at a small grocery store found that the personnel on location had shut the water off, were in the mop-up stage and didn’t need help.
