The Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to 226 calls for service between April 14 and 20, among them the following:
April 14
Automatic fire alarm: 2:30 p.m., (Lea Hill). Firefighters responding to an automatic fire alarm at Lea Hill Elementary soon learned that the principal was having a planned school fire drill. The school had not notified the alarm company.
April 15
Unconscious man: 4 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters and King County Medics responded to a report of an unconscious man in the parking lot of the North Auburn Rite Aid. Firefighters arrived to find a citizen performing CPR on a young man. Firefighters determined that the young man had a pulse but was unconscious because of a heroin overdose. Personnel revived the man and transported him to a local hospital for further treatment.
April 16
Garage fire: 1:02 a.m., (Algona). Firefighters responded to a residential fire at 3rd Avenue North in Algona. Arriving personnel found heavy smoke and flames coming from a detached garage fire next to a residence. Firefighters quickly directed hose lines on the adjacent house to prevent the fire from spreading. The fire was confined to the garage. The garage sustained heavy fire damage. There was minimal external damage to the residence. All occupants were safely evacuated from the residence. Nobody was hurt. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
April 17
Aid call: 1 p.m., (Lakeland Hills). Firefighters responded to Auburn Riverside High School, where a teenage girl had fainted. A private ambulance transported the girl to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center (MAMC).
April 18
Aid call: 5:51 a.m., (Pacific). Firefighters treated a man in the throes of back-to-back seizures before a private ambulance transported him to MAMC.
April 19
Accident: 5:54 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters responded to a three-vehicle accident and assessed two injured people before a VRFA unit and a private ambulance transported them to a hospital.
April 20
Malfunctioning elevator: 6:56 p.m., Auburn. Firefighters helped two people who were trapped in an elevator at the Muckleshoot Casino that had stopped between floors. Firefighters got both people out. No one was hurt.
