The Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to 232 calls for service between July 22 and 28, among them the following:

July 22

Aid call: 5:54 p.m. (Lakeland Hills). Firefighters examined a man who had fainted and checked him for an altered level of consciousness. A private ambulance transported the man to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center (MAMC).

July 23

Aid call: 1:24 p.m., (South Auburn). Firefighters and paramedics responding to an unresponsive boy, without a pulse and not breathing, started CPR. The boy regained a heartbeat, began to breathe again, and King County Medic One transported him to a local hospital.

July 24

Aid call: 5:04 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters responding to a report of an unconscious woman next to a downtown beauty salon determined quickly that the woman had only been sleeping. Once awakened, she left on foot.

July 25

Oven fire: 5:50 p.m., (Pacific). Firefighters dispatched to a minor fire found light smoke coming from an apartment. Firefighters soon pinpointed the cause of the fire — a cardboard pizza box inside the oven. They removed the pizza box, extinguished the fire, cleared the smoke with a fan and helped the resident with batteries so he or she would have properly working smoke detectors.

July 26

Accident: 2:40 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters responding to a rear-end collision involving two vehicles assessed two people on scene and transported them to MAMC for more evaluation and treatment.

July 27

Fall: 5:20 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters responding to an elderly man who had fallen 15 feet over an embankment near his backyard used a rope system and roof ladder to help the fallen fellow up the embankment.

July 28

Aid call: 4:27 p.m., (Algona). Firefighters and King County Medics evaluated a woman in the grip of chest pain, and King County Medics transported her to MAMC.
