The Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to 256 calls for service between Aug. 15 and 21, among them the following:
Aug. 15
Aid call: 9:30 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters evaluated an older fellow who had fallen and sustained minor injuries, and an aid car transported him to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center (MAMC).
Aug. 16
Brush fire: 6:30 p.m., (South Auburn). Firefighters extinguished a one-acre brush fire near Mt. Baker Middle School. Investigators are trying to determine the fire’s cause.
Aug. 17
Aid call: 12 p.m. (Pacific). Firefighters treated an older woman who was suffering non-cardiac chest pain, and an ambulance transported her to MAMC.
Aug. 18
Large brush fire: 4:47 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters from the VRFA, Mountain View Fire and Rescue, Enumclaw, Burien, Skyway and Black Diamond fire departments responded to a large brush fire near Auburn Adventist Academy that had started near a BPA transmission tower then burned down a slope into a ravine above the White River. Owing to the steep terrain, crews took several hours to contain and extinguish the fire. No homes were threatened.
Aug. 19
Aid call: 8:36 p.m., (Lea Hill). Firefighters treated an older man who was suffering from seizure activity, and a private ambulance scooted him to a local hospital.
Aug. 20
Aid call: 1:09 p.m., (Lakeland Hills). Firefighters evaluated an older woman who had fallen onto a concrete sidewalk and hurt herself, and a private ambulance transported her to MAMC.
Aug. 21
Aid call: 11:13 a.m., (Auburn). Firefighters evaluated a young woman who had been assaulted and left her at the scene with Auburn Police.
