Between Dec. 9 and Dec. 13, the Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to 172 calls for service, among them the following:

Dec. 9

Accident: 1:09 p.m., (Pacific). Firefighters responded to a one-car motor vehicle accident on Northbound Hwy 167. The driver said that he had fallen  asleep at the wheel. Firefighters treated the man on scene for neck and back injuries before transporting him to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center (MAMC) for further treatment.

Dec. 12

Aid call: 12:35 a.m., (Lakeland Hills). Firefighters and King County Medics responded to a female who was unconscious and unresponsive. When VRFA firefighters arrived, Auburn police officers were administering CPR. Firefighters found the female with a pulse, and King County Medics provided her treatment for a possible overdose. A private ambulance transported her to MAMC.

Aid call: 10:31 p.m., (Algona). Firefighters responding to a report of an elderly woman with slurred speech and frequent falls determined that the woman had low levels of oxygen in her blood from advanced respiratory disease. Firefighters treated her, and a private ambulance transported her to St. Francis Hospital in Federal Way.

Dec. 13

CPR: 11:38 a.m., (Auburn). Firefighters and King County Medics performed CPR on a woman and treated her with a defibrillator, which restored a pulse. King County Medics transported her to MAMC.

CPR: 15:53 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters responding to an elderly man who had collapsed just outside of Albertsons discovered that a bystander had initiated CPR, King County Medics and VRFA firefighters performed CPR and treated the man at the scene with a defibrillator. The patient was transported with a pulse to MAMC.
