Dec. 17

Minor fire: 7:56 p.m. (Auburn). Firefighters responding to a report of a sofa fire ended up extinguishing a blanket they found ablaze in a front yard. Firefighters ventilated the smoke-filled house and performed gas monitoring. Nobody was hurt, and all occupants were able to reenter the house after firefighters had fully aired it.

Dec. 18

Aid call: 12:54 p.m., (Lea Hill). After firefighters treated a boy who had suffered a seizure brought on by a high fever, one of his parents took him to a local hospital for further evaluation.

Dec. 19

Aid call: 7:31 a.m., (South Auburn). Firefighters evaluated a fall victim with a possible closed head injury and a private ambulance transported the person to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center (MAMC).

Dec. 20

Commercial fire: 11:13 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters responding to an apartment fire in the 500 block of M Street Southeast in Auburn observed light smoke at the back of a two-story apartment building. Firefighters found that a neighbor with a multipurpose dry chemical extinguisher had already snuffed out most of the fire. Smoke and heat did an estimated $10,000 worth of damage. The unit’s occupants were home at the time of the fire and escaped without injury. An investigation showed that cooking had accidentally started the fire.

Dec. 21

Fire: 11:38 a.m., (Auburn). Firefighters responding to the 2400 block of N Street Northeast for an apartment fire found a small fire on a pile of household items burning on the second floor front porch. Neighbor’s quick actions had already snuffed out most of the fire.

Dec. 22

Accident: 11:07 p.m., (Pacific). Firefighters were dispatched to a one-car accident on Northbound Highway 167. Crews treated a woman with neck pain. and a private ambulance transported her to MAMC.

Dec. 23

Aid call: 8:20 a.m., (Lakeland Hills). Firefighters responding to the 6000 block of Marshal Avenue Southeast found an older man with a rapid heart rate. A private ambulance transported the man to MAMC.
