The Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to 218 requests for service between Jan. 5 and 11, among them the following:
Jan. 5
Aid call: 1:30 p.m., (Lakeland Hills). After firefighters helped a woman complaining of shoulder pain, a private ambulance hustled her to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center (MAMC).
Jan. 6
Dumpster fire: 6:20 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters used water on their truck to extinguish a Dumpster fire in the 1500 block of 20th Street Northwest, thereby limiting the fire to the aforesaid Dumpster. The cause is a mystery.
Jan. 7
Carbon monoxide alarm: 5 p.m., (South Auburn). Firefighters used a four-gas detector to determine that there was no accumulation of carbon monoxide in a home where a carbon monoxide was in full throat. Turns out, the detector was malfunctioning.
Jan. 8
Aid call: 2:35 p.m., (Lea Hill). Firefighters treated an older man who was experiencing withdrawal symptoms, and a private ambulance transported him to a local hospital.
Jan. 9
Accident: 4 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters responding to a report of an accident found a car that had smacked into a tree, with moderate damage. The man who’d been driving the car had already gotten out on his own, and bystanders were administering first aid to a cut on his nose. Firefighters took over care of the man, administered to his wounds and transported him to St. Francis Hospital for more care.
Jan. 10
Tent fire: 9:03 p.m., (South Auburn). Firefighters hiked into an open land area north of the Muckleshoot Smoke Shop where a homeless camp tent was ablaze. Firefighters used water extinguishers and dirt to choke the life out of the fire.
Jan. 11
Aid call: 12:40 p.m., (Pacific). After firefighters and King County Medics treated and stabilized an older man in the throes of a diabetic emergency, medics transported him to MAMC.
